Before you make the final decision to give up your companion, please consider the following:

• Spaying and neutering can help dramatically with problems such as spraying, cage aggression and other territorial behaviors which are unpleasant for humans.
• Moving a territorial bun into a large, open pen instead of a cage often makes them much happier.
• If your bun is peeing outside the litterbox, start litterbox training again from the beginning (and spay/neuter!).
• Lots of chewing?  Try providing more chew toys and restrict your bun's access to forbidden objects when you can't supervise.
• Bored bunny?  Perhaps a companion will help.  Two are not more trouble than one, really!
• Need help with rabbit vet bills?  We may be able to assist you.  Not that we're volunteering to routinely cover other people's vet costs, but if it makes the difference between a bun staying in his own home as opposed to going into our foster home, we'll see what we can do to help him stay where he's comfortable.
• We can provide personalized suggestions for specific behavior problems via email.

If re-homing is your only option, we may be able to help.  If you can keep the bunny for awhile we can assist by arranging for spay/neuter, putting the bunny's picture and description on our website and Petfinder, and screening adoptive homes.  In effect, you would be fostering for Bunny Lu, which helps us because we don't have to have space in our regular foster system before we can help.

If you can't keep him anymore, please contact us as at soon as that decision is made so we can help you plan his future.  We will need to know as much as possible about the bun so we can find him an appropriate permanent home.  Note that we can't take bunnies if we don't have room for them, though we may know people looking for specific breeds we can refer you to.  We also can't take bunnies who are unadoptable.  Bunny Lu is not a longterm sanctuary, but a temporary foster home.  If a bun has a terminal illness or a severe behavioral problem, we simply don't have the resources to deal with him.
