Bunny Lu Adoptions, Inc. is a volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) domestic rabbit rescue and education organization located in Northern Virginia. We are dedicated to educating people about the joys of having a house rabbit(s) companion and promoting care that will give those companions the best chance at a happy, healthy, long life. Bunny Lu also provides temporary foster care to abandoned and neglected rabbits and arranges adoptions into loving, indoor, forever homes. While we do not condone the surrendering of rabbits, we understand that providing assistance to those people trying to improve their rabbits' quality of life sometimes requires finding a new home for the rabbits.

Since our founding in 1999 we have taken in over 1000 rabbits and placed 95% of them in new homes!

Rabbit Information
Rabbits have certain requirements that must be met to ensure a happy and healthy life (8-12 years). These requirements include proper housing, diet, exercise, a spay/neuter procedure by a rabbit-experienced vet and proper veterinary care throughout their lives.

Bunny Lu wants to help you determine if a rabbit is the right companion for you and your family before you take one home. See the "Learn" link above for information on the basics of house rabbit care including housing, diet, the importance of a spay/neuter, litter box training, bunny-proofing and rabbit health.

Already have a rabbit? Need help with a behavioral issue? We will help you try and avoid the difficult decision to re-home your friend. Contact for more personalized and specific information about your bun.

Rabbit Adoption
For those who are ready to adopt, we have pictures and descriptions of some of our foster rabbits who are available for adoption to loving indoor homes. All of our rabbits are spayed/neutered, microchipped and litterbox trained! Our adoption rabbits can be seen in person by appointment at our foster location in Haymarket, Virginia, which is the only location where our adoptions take place. We enjoy meeting our adopters and want to make sure we can give you our undivided time and attention to find just the right rabbit(s) for you.
